What does water damage restoration cost depend on?

Water damage restoration cost factors come down to five plain things, not one. First, how clean or dirty the water is. Second, how much got wet, and how far it soaked in. Third, how long it sat before drying began. Fourth, which materials it touched, since some dry out and some must go. Fifth, how many days of drying gear it takes to get the structure dry. Here is what each driver means. And here is why two basements that look alike can cost very different amounts.
Start with the water category, not the size
The first thing a good crew checks is not how big the puddle is. It is what is in the water. The ANSI/IICRC S500 standard for water restoration has the crew name the water category first. That one call shapes most of the work that follows.
